This SPECTACULAR piece has EVERY
color anyone could ever want in a piece of petrified wood. This is a COMPLETE
TRUNK SECTION. IT HAS BARK ALL THE WAY AROUND. This piece measures 24”
across (from left to right in first pic) x 18” deep x 14” high on left and
18” high on right (cd case for sense of scale). The bottom is pretty also,
but this end is best. This is a spectacular candidate for contour
polishing.
This piece could easily be cut up into 9-11 1" thick COMPLETE slabs. Each
of those polished slabs would sell in the $3-4 THOUSAND range, and still leave
two extremely nice end blocks which could be cut up into many sets of
bookends. This piece could easily make someone in the neighborhood of $30,000
in profit.
The availability of pieces like this
is GONE FOREVER. The NPS purchase of all surrounding properties to the
Petrified National Forest has been completed. These best collecting
properties are now off-limits and illegal. The NPS more than doubled the
size of the Petrified Forest with the addition of more than 125 thousand
acres.
